Thank You Candles
Say thank you with these beautiful, handmade gratitude candles. Draw or trace a picture and transfer easily to a candle with the aid of removable Glue Dots. Get the kids involved to design their own as a practical and memorable keepsake.
These candles are perfect as a Mother’s Day gift or as a thank you for your child’s favourite teacher.
Step 1: Gather your materials
For this project you will need:
- Removeable Glue Dots
- White Tissue Paper
- White pillar candles
- Scissors
- Markers and Pens
- Hairdryer
Step 2: Trim paper to size
Cut a length of tissue paper that is large enough to wrap neatly around the candle.
Step 3: Draw your design
Draw and write a personalised message of gratitude on the tissue paper. Brightly coloured markers really pop against the white candle.
Step 4: Attach your Glue Dots
Flip your design and attach a Glue Dot to the (back) corners of the tissue paper.
Step 5: Wrap the candle
Wrap your design around the candle using the temporary Glue Dots to hold in place. Use a hairdryer on high heat setting to melt the wax through the paper. As the wax melts it will soak into the paper, holding the tissue in place. Start in the centre and work around, stopping just before you reach the Glue Dots.
Step 6: Remove Glue Dots
With your design held firmly in place with the wax, carefully remove the Glue Dots and finish by melting the back of the candle with a hairdryer.
