Seedling Punnets
These handy seedling pots are easy to make and are bio-degradable. You can plant the tubes straight into the garden and the card will break down as the plants grow.
Permanent Glue Dots provide just the right amount of hold, helping your pots to remain upright whilst the seeds germinate.
Step 1: Gather your materials
For this project you will need:
- Permanent Glue Dots
- Cardboard Tubes
- Scissors
- String
- Potting Mix
- Seeds
Step 2: Flatten and fold
Flatten the cardboard tubes and fold in half. Open out and then fold on the opposite side so that you have four folds around the tube.
Step 3: Make a small cut
Cut a 2cm slit at the base of each fold.
Step 4: Fold the base inwards
Fold the base pieces outwards (see picture), then fold the corners inwards to create a flat base, tucking the last corner underneath the first to seal.
Step 5: Attach your Glue Dots
Attach permanent Glue Dots to the tubes.
Step 6: Add another folded circle
Press 6 tubes together to form a punnet. Re-folding the edges to create straight sides will help the tubes to sit together.
Step 5: Finish your punnets
Finish the punnets with some string.
Step 5: Add potting mix and seeds
Fill your punnets with potting mix, plant some seeds and water. Place on a sunny windowsill until seeds germinate. When it’s time to plant in your garden, pull apart and then plant individual tubes straight into your garden bed.
