Sprouting Sunflower Seed Tags

These eco-friendly swing tags can be planted straight into the soil and they will grow into beautiful Sunflowers. Use uncoated kraft card stock, natural raffia and non-toxic Glue Dots, to create these sweet swing tags. The card will compost naturally into the soil, absorbing moisture to help your sunflower seeds to sprout and grow into a beautiful array of flowers.

Step 1: Gather your materials
For this project you will need:
- Extra Large Glue Dots
- Kraft Brown swing tags
- Crepe paper streamers
- Sunflower Seeds
- Raffia
- Scissors

Step 2: Place the Glue dot
Carefully place an Extra Large Glue Dot in the centre of the swing tag.

Step 3: Fold the Crepe paper
Concertina fold the crepe paper streamer.

Step 4: Cut the petals
Cut out the petal shape from the crepe paper. Sunflower petals are long and narrow, finishing at a point on one end.

Step 5: Place the petals
Work your way around the edge of the glue dot, pressing the petals to the outer rim of the glue.

Step 6.: Place the glue dot
Carefully place a second glue dot over the top of the first, pressing down firmly. Add a second row of petals around the edge of this glue dot.

Step 7: Add the seeds
Press the sunflower seeds into the centre of the swing tag and finish with a natural raffia tie.

Note: To plant in the garden, soak the entire card in water for 15 mins and then plant directly into the soil.
